I have several things for you to try and I believe you will get relief from your problem. The #1 thing is to eat more fiber; like fruit or raw vegetables. Very important! Also, eating prunes is really good. Eat them for snacks. I find drinking prune juice makes me nauseated, but I love prunes, so I eat them for snacks. Walking helps tremendously; say for at least 30 min a day and you can break that down into 2 – 15 min periods. These are good natural ways you can try first and usually, if you start these regimens, you should have relief within 72 hrs and then should have bowel movements every day, may 2 – 3, as long as you keep up the fiber. Last, but not least, there are products that can help you initially and then get on the more fiber routine. Some of these products are Metamucil, (they have one that tastes like orange juice) and Perdiem (per-dee-um) in the brown can. The Perdiem is psyllium (sp) seeds. Start out with 1/2 tsp in the mornings with at least 8 oz of water or juice. It is really important you drink the liquid! You don't want these seeds to get stuck in your throat and esophagus. They will swell up, hence the liquid, to push them down into your stomach rather quickly. They are very easy to swallow and have no taste. Perdiem in the yellow can is a laxative and can be used first and then go to the brown can. The last one is Herb-Lax by Shaklee. This is a tablet (herbal) and easy to take and from what I have heard, they work real well.

There! Surely at least one of these or a combination of these will help you. I used to have IBS and eating fruit every day, especially cantaloupe cured my problem. I have tried all of the above products, except Metamucil, with good relief when I was constipated.

Good Luck!

i have tried cranberry and also prune juice and it works but talk to a doctor and research about the colonal cleansing operation before you go ahead with it… definately get some help and advice from a doctor.. hope everything turns out well…

You might also need to see a specialist and soon would definately be better then later…

Stop drinking coffee, drink more water and fruit juice, eat more carrots and leafy vegetables, eat more vegetation in general. You don't need surgery for it. If these things do not work then go to a pharmacy and buy a bottle of mineral oil and swallow a little at each meal. It won't digest at all, it will just slide through you and help things slide out. Don't overdue the amount you swallow or it will slide out of you into your underwear whether you want it to or not. Then you will have bright yellow oil staining everything. *oops*

Colonic irrigation is not the answer, this is a good site for natural laxatives: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-some-na...

You can make your own 'brew' out of Senna, or buy it in preparations like Ex Lax: http://www.superliving.co.uk/pharmacy/bo...

If none of these help after a few weeks, then it's time to see your doctor if it's affecting you so badly.

Cranberry juice is good for the prostrate, but prunes or prune juice is better for constipation. Also there is a green tea (diet tea) that works wonders. Don't overdo. Only one cup of tea is needed and the next day whoosh. So make sure you are able to find a toilet the next day.
Good Luck.

Yikes!! I can imagine that must feel pretty terrible. Eat foods high in fiber and drink lots of water. Also, I suppose you could get your colon cleansed. AND you should see a doctor about the depression and headaches. Hope you feel better soon.

Hiya, Holy Warrior.
You have probably tried lots of remedies by now.
I can recommend Bran Flakes with hot milk, or tinned prunes.
They work for me KYBO. Keep Your Bowels Open.

The best thing for it is not cranberry juice, it's prune juice. That is what my doctor has always told me for any of my kids that were constipated.

Eat more fiber, such as leafy vegetables or bran cereal for starters. Drink plenty of fluids. Don't eat too much "bready" food.

I find that prunes work quite effectively, but don't eat too many at once.
