<p>I&#039;ve been trying to shape up lately. My goal is to lose 20 pounds. I don&#039;t want to set a time limit that&#039;s too far off, but I want this done in a reasonable amount of time. </p>
<p>I&#039;ve been going on an exercise machine nightly for about an hour or so. I don&#039;t know if this is enough, because when I get off I feel little affects of anything,<span id="more-362"></span> meaning that I don&#039;t feel like I worked out even though I spent an hour on the damn thing. </p>
<p>I really just need help organizing an eating schedule. I&#039;m not going to crash diet because I know that won&#039;t lead anywhere good, but I don&#039;t want to do the whole &#8220;6 meals a day&#8221; bullshit. How do I plan 3 meals with one snack in a healthy way? (I&#039;m not a vegetarian or anything, so meat is a-okay) </p>
<p>Thanks for the help. I&#039;m really hoping that by losing the weight, I&#039;ll be healthier inside and out. It&#039;ll definitely give a huge boost to my self confidence.</p>

<p>Okay jan 1st i am going to start weight watchers. And i am going to start walking. I am a size 18 right now. My question is if i stick with weight watchers and evercising and drinking alot of water..in december of 2010 how much weight should i have lost? Or how many sizes?</p>

<p>All throughout my childhood and teenage years I watched helplessly as my mother tried every fad diet under the sun.  I recall one time she ate boiled cabbage and nothing else for a whole week.  I felt my mothers&#8217; frustration and misery but I could not understand why it was so difficult for her to lose weight and keep it off &#8211; until that is I became<span id="more-358"></span> a weight loss coach.
<p>For the past two years I have been assisting people to achieve their ideal weight and in this time I have experienced what contributes to a successful weight loss story.</p>
<p>Get serious</p>
<p>It all starts with you and how serious you are.  The key to successful weight loss is dependent on your level of commitment.  How would you rate your seriousness on a scale of 1 &#8211; 10 (10 being deadly serious)?</p>
<p>Staying motivated</p>
<p>Always keep the end in mind!  Write down all of the reasons why you are motivated to lose weight now.  Record these reasons on a piece of card that can be kept in your wallet or purse.  Each morning and before going to bed remind yourself by reading aloud why you are motivated to lose weight.</p>
<p>Facing challenges</p>
<p>Every day you are likely to face challenges which can disrupt your focus and get in the way of your weight loss goals.  Write down all of the challenges that you know have made losing weight hard for you in the past because this will help you to develop a better strategy this time.  Three common challenges are lack of results, boredom and lack of support from spouse, family and friends.</p>
<p>Safe and effective</p>
<p>When choosing a weight control program I would recommend looking for the following:</p>
<p>Balanced nutritious </p>
<p>Provides you with balanced nutritious meals</p>
<p>Teaches you about better eating habits</p>
<p>Choose a weight control program that teaches you how to maintain your weighr t once you have reached your goal.</p>

If you are one of the many millions of people who struggle to maintain the proper weight, you are probably aware of the generally accepted groundrules of weight management.</p>
<p>The rules say that you need just two things to keep to the correct weight: proper diet and exercise.  These two factors are expounded in books and programs worldwide that are the center of a billion-dollar business.</p>
<p>Unfortunately,<span id="more-354"></span> that business is failing, at least in having an effect, if not in making money for its principals.  The proportion of the population who are overweight, and in fact obese, is growing at an alarming rate.</p>
<p>And it&#8217;s not just the United States, by the way.  Obesity worldwide is such a concern that the World Health Organization has coined a new word &#8220;Globesity&#8221; to describe what they see as a global problem.</p>
<p>For many of us, &#8220;proper diet and exercise&#8221; is not a simple or an easy answer &#8211; instead, it represents a total and challenging lifestyle change.  Resistance to the required change in personal eating and exercise habits and practices is what dooms many individual attempts to lose weight.</p>
<p>In other words, proper diet and exercise are only half of what is required to maintain a healthy weight &#8211; the physical half.  It&#8217;s the other half: the mental and emotional challenges, resistance to change, and difficulty in breaking habits and routines, which keep us overweight.</p>
<p>And, seeing that &#8220;proper diet and exercise&#8221; is fairly simple in concept, and it&#8217;s the emotional and habit issues that are the sticking point, it&#8217;s therefore those latter issues that we should be focussing on.  This is where hypnosis can help.</p>
<p>Let me comment, by the way, that all this is the reason why programs like Jenny Craig, Weightwatchers, and even Overeaters Anonymous are so effective.  Using meetings and counselors to allow you to interact with others, they address your emotional needs as much as the physical aspects of diet.  However, the use of hypnosis can be a lot cheaper, faster, and easier.</p>
<p>For example, most of us have become accustomed (conditioned) to eating particular types and amounts of food on a particular schedule.  It&#8217;s not easy to eat less, or differently.  Our tummies are used to feeling full, our brains are conditioned to eat at particular times, and we are used to particular foods, often those which are &#8220;not good&#8221; for us.</p>
<p>Exercise is also not that easy to insert into one&#8217;s daily routine.  It seems straightforward but humans are strongly resistant to it.  Plus, in today&#8217;s society, who has the time?</p>
<p>This is where hypnotic techniques can help. Hypnotherapy is about habit reconditioning and behavior modification.  A course of hypnotherapy can help you modify your existing behaviors and habit patterns (in other words, the mental and emotional challenges) so that you more easily adjust to the new lifestyle required to achieve the two physical cornerstones of weight management &#8211; diet and exercise.</p>
<p>But, hypnosis or not, you still have to embrace the diet and exercise part. Hypnosis helps you do this.</p>
<p>Now, here is the good news &#8211; a good hypnotherapy program can greatly influence good weight management behavior and make a substantial difference in the adjustments required to a new diet and exercise regime.</p>
<p>First, hypnosis can teach you relaxation.  Many of the triggers that cause people to overeat are caused by stress-related factors.  The kind of relaxation learned during hypnosis techniques can greatly reduce stress, making the adjustment to new habits much easier.</p>
<p>Next, a good hypnotherapist will work with you to identify triggers.  These are that are sabotaging good diet and exercise habits. </p>
<p>You may be one of those people who find yourself standing looking inside the fridge, just looking for something to eat.  Your hypnotherapist will help you change those behaviors so that you only snack at fixed times, and then you only eat something good for you, such as a protein snack to prevent hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar.</p>
<p>We describe certain foods as comfort foods &#8211; food which is tasty to eat and filling, and generally bad for you.  For some people, their entire diet is comfort food.  Maybe their parents fed them comfort food at a young age when they were upset. </p>
<p>Whatever the reason, those bad eating habits are now engrained. Your hypnotherapist can give you suggestions to change your automatic responses when you have an upset or a &#8220;stress moment&#8221;.</p>
<p>In fact, hypnosis can help alleviate the pangs or cravings that we tend to feel even when we are not hungry, and do not need nourishment.  Often we eat because we are just used to eating at a certain time, or because our tummies are used to feeling full.</p>
<p>The problem with this is that over the years, we need to eat more and more to maintain that &#8220;full&#8221; feeling.  Hypnosis can reverse this behavior to allow you to let go of the hunger pangs at all the wrong times.</p>
<p>Your hypnotherapist can also help you to change your mental patterns so that you feel better about yourself.  Self-image is a big issue when it comes to weight and dieting issues.</p>
<p>Dieting is not difficult, as it happens.  There is a huge variety of different options, including for those who want bigger portions, those who like particular foods, and so forth.  It&#8217;s making the adjustment to stick to a plan that makes the difference, and that&#8217;s the key to success.</p>
<p>So, what&#8217;s the game plan?  First, when entering into any form of diet, exercise, or other lifestyle change, it&#8217;s always a good idea to visit your doctor and get his advice on what to do and the limits. For example, if you have not exercised forever and you are 50 pounds overweight, it&#8217;s not a good idea to suddenly try running 3 miles a day.  You need to start slowly.  So, get a diet and exercise plan from your doctor.</p>
<p>Next, understand that you have to take it slowly.  Weight loss of 1-2 pounds a week is a standard goal, and this requires both diet and exercise.  You can probably lose more in the short term by taking more extreme measures like starvation dieting.  However, this will not last.</p>
<p>Second, understand that even with hypnosis, you are going to have to exert a little bit of will power.  Hypnosis will help you greatly by making you aware of the urges and reframing your automatic responses. However, at some point you are going to have to just say &#8220;no&#8221;.  It&#8217;s at this point that a hypnotic refresher, such as an MP3 recording, will be very effective.</p>
<p>There are many &#8220;Hypnosis weight loss&#8221; programs and CDs available.  The best kind of program, however, is one which offers personalized individual sessions, backed up by recordings to be listened to between the sessions. <p>How to Estimate How Many Calories You Can Have and Still Lose Weight</p>
<p>To figure out how many calories you should have, first start with where you are. In other words, figure out how many calories it takes to maintain your present size and then reduce from there. You can go about this in many ways. Most people simply<span id="more-353"></span> choose an arbitrary number like 1200 calories and that&#8217;s what they eat, but in nearly every case that&#8217;s not nearly enough calories to ensure adequate nutrition, not to mention the deprivation that sets up.
<p>While losing weight and to this day, I eat over 2000 calories a day on average and I&#8217;ve maintained a good weight for my height for over 17 years. Remember, your body requires calories to maintain itself. </p>
<p>Basic Calorie Requirements Calculation Based on Activity Level:</p>
<p>Sedentary : 13 X Weight = Avg. cal/day<br />
<br />Sedentary is not exercising at all </p>
<p>Moderately Active: 16 X Weight = Avg. cal/day<br />
<br />Moderately Active is exercising approximately 3-4 times per week</p>
<p>Very Active: 19 X Weight = Avg. cal/day<br />
<br />Very Active is 5-7 strenuous exercise sessions per week. </p>
<p>If you weigh over 200 pound now, and you&#8217;d like to weigh closer to 150, here is a calculation you could use to get started: Assuming you are going to be adding enough exercise to quality as Moderately Active, we&#8217;ll use 16 as our modifier: </p>
<p>150 pounds X 16 calories per pound = 2400 calories<br />
<br />Less 500 (Using the common 500 calories per day reduction) gives us a total of 1900 average calories per day</p>
<p>If you started to incorporate a plan that allowed an average of 1900 calories every day, you&#8217;d start to lose weight. The mistake most people make is to reduce calories too much, which ultimately sacrifices muscle plus sets you up for feeling deprived. It&#8217;s far better in the long run to go more slowly, keeping as much muscle as possible while burning calories via exercise. Remember too, even if you don&#8217;t eat quite that many calories on many days, you might eat more on the weekends for instance, so it ends up being closer to your goal of 1900 average per day. Take the total calories for the week divided by seven. </p>
<p>Remember, this average calorie number gives you plenty of wiggle room during the week. You can have some treats along with everyone else, or add more on weekends. Instead of constantly saying, &#8220;I can&#8217;t, I&#8217;m on a diet,&#8221; now you can say, &#8220;Thank you, that looks delicious,&#8221; and enjoy some. It doesn&#8217;t ruin your diet plan because you&#8217;ve got a large enough calorie allowance that if you are more careful some days than others, it will work out to the average number of calories you want. I tend to eat far less calories during the week than on weekends and my totals generally average out to 2000 to 2200 calories per day.</p>
<p>The 500 calorie reduction is a well accepted amount. You can reduce your calories further, but I wouldn&#8217;t recommend it. It doesn&#8217;t benefit anyone to try for faster weight loss, in fact, if you reduce your calories too much you end up wasting muscle in the process, which is exactly what you do not want to do. If you want faster results, it&#8217;s better to add more activity, thereby burning more calories at rest. </p>
<p>You may be thinking I&#8217;m nuts, recommending 1900 calories per day, but I can say for a fact that if you eat too little (1000 &#8211; 1200 calories is too few, IMO) then you set yourself up for all of the following: </p>
<p>Deprivation</p>
<p>You&#8217;re going to feel deprived, mentally and physically. 1000 calories isn&#8217;t enough for your basic metabolic needs, much less to fuel yourself for your activity needs. Add more food! Just have a bit more than you&#8217;re already having, so for instance, if you are allowed 1/2 cup of vegetables is a whole cup going to ruin all your progress? I doubt it. Eat a whole cup, or go ahead and have two oranges. Fruits and vegetables are very low calorie but provide high nutrition. </p>
<p>Sure, some vegis and fruits are high in sugar, but it&#8217;s natural sugar. I seriously doubt our planet grows any killer foods &#8211; it is more likely the food industry which has processed those foods to become nothing more than a dried powder, then add back more sugars, and chemicals so it will resemble the original product, is more harmful than a simple apple or banana? </p>
<p>If you are diabetic or must watch the sugars, have a small bit of protein along with the higher glycemic food, such as an ounce of cheese with your apple. Notice I said an ounce of cheese, not a slab big enough to feed a small country. </p>
<p>Metabolic Slow-Down</p>
<p>Feeding yourself too few calories sets you up for metabolic slow-down. Studies have shown time and again that a heavier person can find it difficult to lose weight, even though eating very low calories, simply because their body&#8217;s metabolism is burning at such a slow rate. As you probably already know exercise helps to speed up your metabolism but so does eating. That&#8217;s why they say breakfast is so important, not only to fuel yourself but because it starts the metabolic furnace burning, and it continues to burn all day. If you don&#8217;t eat anything until noon, you don&#8217;t stoke your furnace to start burning until then either. </p>
<p>Has the ultra low calorie approach worked for you so far? If not, why not try something more reasonable? Tag along with a friend who doesn&#8217;t have a weight problem and you&#8217;ll see how sometimes they eat more, sometimes less, but on average they eat enough to fuel their body and maintain their weight. </p>
<p>Adding more food gives you additional eye appeal. If you split up 1000 calories over the course of an entire day you&#8217;re looking at pretty skimpy portions on your plate each time you eat. I like to feel like I&#8217;m getting enough to eat and I do this by rounding out my plate with extra vegetables.  </p>
<p>If I&#8217;m having a frozen entree for instance, I&#8217;ll cook up a cup or more of frozen vegetables to add to my plate. The extra vegis really fill me up, providing the satisfaction I need, and I often have a bit extra vegetables to throw away. Is that wasting food? No, it&#8217;s smart. Far better for me mentally to have extra food to toss away than to be licking the plate because I&#8217;m still hungry. I&#8217;m also not likely to start wanting something else to eat right after dinner if I&#8217;m feeling content with the amount I&#8217;ve eaten.  </p>
<p>Make an effort to learn to like your food as is. Plain mixed vegetables with nothing on them are delicious. It took me awhile to stop putting butter on them, and then even quitting the Molly McButter (just chemicals and sodium). I eat them plain and yes, they are great. Nature made our fruits and vegetables naturally sweet and all those &#8220;extras&#8221; we are used to using like butter on vegetables or potatoes certainly make things taste all yummy but they also make us larger than we need to be. Those &#8220;extra&#8221; calories add up. </p>
<p>Start to Slowly Make Ajustments to What You Eat or How Much You Eat</p>
<p>For instance wean yourself off adding sugar to your cold cereal. Read the label; all processed cereals contain a ridiculous amount of added sugar already. There&#8217;s no need to add more. My only exception is brown sugar on oatmeal. I don&#8217;t sugar my cereal at all anymore but it took me awhile to make the change. Start by adding a bit less, then next week cut back a bit more until you break the habit entirely. Tiny changes make up for big results over time. </p>
<p>If you feed yourself well, and focus on increasing your activity, even if only a little, then you will continue to lose fat, build muscle and get more shapely, all the while increasing your metabolism so you can eat more food! </p>

<p>A healthy pregnancy almost always involves weight gain. But now that baby&#8217;s here, you&#8217;re probably wishing those extra pounds would hurry up and disappear!  While it won&#8217;t happen overnight, these six simple tips can help you lose that extra weight in a healthy way. <p>3) Drink plenty of water.  You will probably be very thirsty if you are nursing your baby and you should drink as much as your thirst dictates.  But even if you&#8217;re not breastfeeding, lots of pure water is important in your quest to shed those pregnancy pounds.  </p>
<p>First of all, water has no calories, so when compared to other beverages, it&#8217;s hands down the best bet in terms of weight loss.  Diet soft drinks and other low calorie beverages may have only a couple of calories, but your body craves pure water in order to be able to function properly.  Besides, many people are concerned about the artificial sweeteners used in these products, and caffeinated diet drinks may increase fussiness in your baby if you&#8217;re nursing.  Go ahead and indulge if this is something you just can&#8217;t live without, but make sure you&#8217;re not doing it at the expense of your water needs. </p>
<p>Secondly, water is helpful in the process of burning stored body fat.  Studies have shown that not drinking enough water can hinder your weight loss efforts because the liver has to work harder to metabolize waste when your body is not properly hydrated.  </p>
<p>And finally, drinking enough water will help you feel full so you eat less.  This is especially true if you&#8217;re eating lots of high fiber foods such as whole grain breads and cereals.  The fiber in whole grains will absorb water, making you feel full longer.</p>
<p>Other liquids are fine too, such as juice, milk (dairy or substitutes), and herbal teas.  But do try to stay away from those empty calorie soft drinks and anything that&#8217;s labeled &#8220;beverage,&#8221; &#8220;punch&#8221; or &#8220;drink&#8221; instead of &#8220;juice.&#8221;  And even though they may be considered healthful, watch your intake of pure fruit juices.  Juices contain nutrients that your body needs, but they are a very concentrated source of sugar as well.  Whenever possible you are better off to eat a piece of fresh fruit and drink water for thirst. </p>
<p>You should also try to limit your intake of coffee and caffeinated tea.  Doing so may help both you and your baby regulate your sleep habits.  Some babies get very fussy and hard to settle when mom is breastfeeding and drinks caffeinated beverages.  </p>
<p>Drinking lots of water is one of those things that seems easy in theory, but in practice it can be difficult to accomplish.  One effective strategy to help make sure you get enough is to place water bottles strategically around the house.  You can buy small plastic bottles of water by the case at the grocery store or you can buy the refillable type of bottle that you might take to the gym or on your bike.</p>
<p>Put a bottle anywhere you spend time during the day: near your favourite nursing chair (put several here&#8212;you&#8217;ll probably use them all!), near baby&#8217;s change table, on the bathroom counter, on top of the washing machine, on the kitchen counter, on your desk, on a shelf near the front door, beside your bed, on the kitchen table, etc.  Each morning, spend 3 or 4 minutes making the rounds collecting yesterday&#8217;s empty bottles and replacing them with fresh ones.  This way, you&#8217;ll be more likely to drink lots of water because there will always be some close at hand.  </p>
<p>4) Breastfeed your baby if at all possible.  Depending on the age and weight of your baby, you can use around 800 calories a day producing milk for her.  Besides the host of other benefits that breastfeeding affords both you and your baby, quicker postnatal weight loss is one advantage that all new moms welcome.  Even if you are returning to work or can&#8217;t breastfeed full time for any reason, any amount of breast milk is good for your baby, and as a perk, will help you use up additional calories for as long as you are able to continue.</p>
<p>In addition, breastfeeding releases natural hormones that help you relax.  Since the hormones released when you are stressed can contribute to weight gain, it only makes sense to counter this with activities that help you relax.  Breastfeeding is a wonderful way to do this, and you and your baby will also benefit in so many other ways. &#8226; What Dentists do to us; Root canals, Amalgam metals, etc(Toxins placed by man)<br />
<br />
&#8226; Ill-effects of Radiation; X-ray, Microwave foods, Nuclear, etc (All forms of Radiation tend to suppress our immune systems)<br />
<br />
&#8226; Shock -Be it near Drowning/starvation(Anorexia)/near Asphyxia (thru acute asthma), near death(Car accident), etc.<br />
<br />
&#8226; NOT being breast-fed properly as an infant (The genesis of your immunity stems from the Maternal breast)<br />
<br />
&#8226; Chronic spinal issues (Just ask your chiropractor),<br />
<br />
&#8226; Foreign bodies such as Gall/Kidney stones, Surgical/cosmetic implants- (Foreign bodies are seen as invaders &#038; place the immunity under load)</p>
<p>BY FAR, the most common areas as they relate to obesity is the first Six above </p>
<p>&#8226; TREATMENT </p>
